Your Business Plan

Whether you are a small business start-up or an existing enterprise, it is crucial to formally map out your vision and the manner in which you will pursue it....in writing. Your business plan is absolutely essential to establishing a successful business.

The process begins by identifying the purpose of the business plan and for whom it is being written.

For example, your business plan is required in order to secure financing or grants to fund your enterprise.  Funding sources and lenders are looking for assurances (the five "C's") that your business will be profitable.  In your business plan, they are looking for your:

Capacity to repay is the most critical of the five factors, with cash being the preferred means.

Capital, which is the money that you personally have invested in the business.

Collateral or guarantee of security that you can provide the lender.

Conditions describing the specific purpose of the loan and how it will be repaid.

Character, which is the general impression you make on the prospective lender or investor.

On the other hand, for those of you who are pursuing the procurement of government contracts,

your business plan describes how you will adhere to your contractual agreements.  State and

federal agencies want to know how you will deliver goods and/or services in a timely manner,

and without glitches or problems.  To be eligible for these procurement opportunities, entities

must have at least one of the MBE,WBE,WOSB or SBA 8(a) certifications.

For this purpose, your business plan is required to provide assurances that, as an owner of a

small business, you and your enterprise are competent to deliver what you promise and that

you are going to remain in business long enough to satisfy your contractual terms.  In your

business plan, the entities that require certifications are looking for satisfactory descriptions

of the following principles by which you and your business will abide:

    Competency

    Capability

    Capacity

    Credit

    Integrity

    Perseverance

    Tenacity

However, common issues most entreprenuers face when attempting to create their

own business plan are:

- not enough hours in a day

- an inability to write well

- insufficient knowledge of how to start writing a plan or what questions to ask

- not knowing what resources are available or how to conduct research

- limited cash or financial reserves

- a need to work with a business consultant to focus on business development strategies

- not knowing how to transform the dreamy vision into a tangible reality

Features and Benefits: working with ADDENDA Solutions

1. You benefit from our experience, both personally and professionally.

At ADDENDA Solutions, some of our business consultants are former bankers who recognize

good business plans that are thought-out, well-planned, researched, developed, and convey in

writing the liklihood that the business will financially succeed.  Likewise, our consultants

recognize business plans that lack the research and preparation required to ensure a successful

and profitable business.

Our business consultants are also professional researchers and writers who can concisely

capture your vision and plan into a comprehensive, written document that is professional, yet

reflective of your personal style.

2.  We listen to you. We encourage you. We support you.

The exercise of creating a written blueprint of your business serves as an empowerment tool

so that once your doors are open, you are truly ready to successfully implement "your plan."

There will be a series of meetings that the business consultant will have with you. Worksheets

will be used to help you critically think your vision through, write out specific details, as well

as plan out action steps and timelines.  Naturally, research is required and statistical data

is needed to justify the need for your business, describe trends in your industry, and objectively

analyze your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, resources and threats (SWORT).

 3.  As entrepreneurs, we know first hand what it feels like to overcome

adversity; we know what it takes to succeed.

We relate to the ups and downs, the excitement and fears, the support and periodic

dissappointments that you are experiencing this very moment.  However, it is the eventual

independence, security, pride and success is the ultimate reward.
